If you missed the previous posts in the Appreciating the Journey series here are some links to catch you up.
The family closet was just this awkward room in the middle of the second floor. It had no natural light coming in but lots of openings. So what does one do with a room like this?
In addition to the openings seen above there was also another door to the hallway and the door to the master bedroom.
When this was a separate apartment it made a little more sense. Lady Pep’s room was the dining room and this middle area functioned as a living room.
We had a room like that in our apartment area on the first floor and we split it into a bedroom and a living room.
Let’s go back to this awkward space upstairs.
We really only got rid of one opening to create more wall space for the closet. Instead of walling everything up we just moved them over a bit to create an opening that was directly across from the bathroom and to place the door for Lady Pep’s room.
Additionally, we created this opening.
Straight down.
This is where our new spiral staircase would go.
In our bedroom we actually got rid of the two closets to make the closet room bigger.
Here’s the after. Much more functional and definitely prettier.
What do guys think?
