Lady Pep’s room wasn’t as dramatic but it’s still fun to look back and see how far we’ve come. Let’s Appreciate the Journey (ATJ).
Her room had no door but did have two openings. One opening into the kitchen and one opening into what would eventually be our family closet.
These openings would get walled up to create her room.
My sister chastised me a bit for getting rid of the character in the house when I walled up the archway.
I liked it but it just wasn’t functional.
The room really started to take shape when the walls went up.
Now with paint and newly sanded floors.
On the advice of the Crate & Barrel digital designer we painted the bump out a little darker than the rest of the room. You can see it in the above picture.
Now for the pretty pictures . . .
Her room, her color choices. It’s extremely pink. The walls and the ceiling are pink. I don’t do white ceilings so the trim and ceiling are the same.
If you are looking for the names of our paint colors you can find them here.
The most fun part of her room was picking out the furniture. I have to admit I was living vicariously through her.
A must have non-negotiable for her space was a hanging chair.
Funny story, I had already ordered this one. See the whole round up of chairs under consideration here.
Eventually I got around to telling my contractor where I wanted it and he told me the ceiling wouldn’t be able to support it. Doh!
Luckily I was able to cancel it and after some quick searching we all decided on this one from Hayneedle.
It’s on a stand which I was against initially but it fits perfectly in the corner area. The kids are so hard on the thing that the ceiling would have fallen down within a matter of hours.
The chair is supposed to be her chill out space/reading nook. It’s almost too comfortable.
She has a desk for homework but it’s also the perfect place for her to create stories and make artwork. With three good sized drawers she has plenty of space for her collections and secrets.
Found this not so obvious princess bed on Crate and Kids. It’s cradled in the nook next to the window and fits perfectly.
If she ever wants a bigger bed there is enough space to fit a full if we put it in the middle and then switch the desk over to the window.
But right now she’s got a whole lot of floor space to play.
Next up we’ll look at the family closet and see how that came together.
