After months of talking about what we would like to do with the upstairs and the rest of the house. After having an interior designer draw up some plans. After having my husband sketch out his vision. The time was finally upon us. The contractor walk-through! This is where we find out if our ideas are doable and how much this “vision” is going to cost. EEEEEP!!!!
To make this walk-through successful I made a checklist. In doing some preliminary research I found a suggestion about organizing a walk-through checklist by area. Spreadsheet time! I listed out as specifically as I could all of the things I wanted completed during this renovation.
Check it out below.
I broke my list down by floor and room. It was extremely helpful to have on hand when we were talking to the contractor. It made sure we didn’t forget anything. As we went through the items our contractor made suggestions where he thought our ideas were….how do you say? Bananas! We’ve worked with him before so we trust his expertise.
A major decision point was the bathroom. It’s a small bathroom but we could recapture some additional space by taking over the linen closet and the useless former dumbwaiter area.
Our interior designer made a suggestion that we wanted to see if we could implement; adding a washer and dryer. Originally, I wanted to fit a double vanity but the more I thought about it the more this laundry situation seemed like the better choice. What would you have chosen? A double vanity or a stackable washer and dryer?
Also, would you have gotten rid of a perfectly good linen closet to make a bigger second bathroom? Let me know in the comments.
