Steady as she goes
The renovation continues. Long live the renovation! Actually I’m kind of ready for everything to be done.
Next on the list is the main staircase in the house. These were in terrible shape and practically falling out of the wall. Not an exaggeration.
Look at this!
There were spindles missing, the metal on the treads was raising up. Ugh! Unsafe and unsightly! For the longest time these were our only stairs so we were happy they were functional.
All in all it wasn’t that messy or dusty a job. Our stair guy built the stairs off site and then installed them one by one over the course of 3 weeks. Doing it this way meant he didn’t have to shore up the stairs from underneath. Unfortunately for him the first step was in fact a doozy. We also had some rainy days and random other issues. Roll all of these together and you get why it took 3 weeks when it was originally supposed to take 4 days. Welp!
Whoever put the original stairs in had installed it in a wacky way and he spent way more time on the stairs than anticipated.
It was well worth it though because the new steps are S O L I D! They are also gorgeous!
So his part was done but the whole stair renovation still had a few more steps. Ha! See what I did there???
They needed to get sanded and finished and the landing needed new wood. Luckily I had just enough leftover hardwood from Master Ace’s room to do the landing.
Success!!!
Next up in part 2 is how I added a little wow factor to the project.
